I recommend Ubuntu for desktop use (I actually dislike it for server use
since the Ubuntu server installs I've tested install a lot of
unnecessary desktop-y stuff.  I use regular Debian for servers and a lot
of my desktops.).  For "just works" Ubuntu is very nice.
