Hi,

It has been a while since I looked, but the chance of dealing with 32 bit
time stamps in 2038 seems small.

My recollection of the 64 bit time stamp is that it keeps time to the
microsecond.  (Take a look at the output from stat) That will take about 20
bits. 64 bits minus 20 bits leaves 44 bits.  32 bits handled 68 years. So
the new time stamp should deal with 2^12*68 years.  I also believe the epoch
has been changed.  I also think there is a sign bit as well.  So it will
probably only make it to year 2^11*68 or year 139264 or so.  I expect to be
dead by then.  - Louis
