Position Summary:

The Systems Programming Team of University of Arizona Center for Computing
and Information Technology (CCIT) seeks to fill one position at the Systems
Programmer - Senior level.  Applicants will be selected for the positions
based on qualifications.  The successful applicants will be responsible for
the security, integrity, reliability, and efficiency of server and data
resources in a large, heterogeneous computing environment with primary focus
on UNIX-based servers.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

*	Administer servers in a large, heterogeneous UNIX environment. 
*	Support university-wide applications and services.
*	Implement new services into an established production environment. 
*	Programming for software development and maintenance.
*	Participate on software and hardware architecture design teams.
*	Install, monitor, troubleshoot and upgrade hardware and software.
*	Support systems backup and recovery procedures.
*	Manage system security and troubleshoot network authentication
issues.
*	Work with database administrators in support of relational database
services.
*	Provide printing environment support.
*	Provide technical support, training and general assistance to other
server administrators.
*	Provide technical insight and advice to multiple IT projects, many
with a university-wide scope.

 

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications:

*	Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field AND three
years of systems and/or applications programming experience; OR
*	Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field AND four
years of systems and/or applications programming experience; OR 
*	Five years of systems and/or applications programming experience; OR

*	Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education
approved by Human Resources or department co-director.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

*	Thorough working knowledge of computing equipment, hardware/software
installation, and TCP/IP networking.
*	Thorough working knowledge of computer and data security concepts.
*	Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of technical
and non-technical staff.
*	Demonstrated expertise in UNIX server administration, including 2-4
years experience with all aspects of administering multiple servers at an
enterprise level.
*	Knowledge of: 

*	Administration and operation of  Solaris, HP/UX, and/or Linux
operating systems;
*	Networking hardware configuration, administration and
troubleshooting;
*	Configuring and administering high availability environments;
*	Configuring and administering storage area networking and storage
management systems;
*	LDAP and its application to directory services and security;
*	Configuring and administering email systems; 
*	Web services and HTML;
*	MS Windows and UNIX interoperability;
*	Principles of storage area networks;
*	Principles of relational databases;
*	Experience in one or more shell languages (e.g., bash, csh), Perl,
PHP, C and/or Java.

*	Demonstrable knowledge & understanding of concepts and standards
related to operating systems, networking protocols, multi-tier
architectures, computer security, database services and application systems.
