[Tfug] SIP/VoIP in Linux

Well, here's another voip question for you all.

What SIP type services have you found to work well in Linux? I intend to
begin using one in the not too distant future. I'll need both SIP->PSTN and
PSTN->SIP functionality. I'd like SIP since it's open and that leaves some
leeway for changing programs later without abandoning service/number.

Skype offers these services, but their program does not use SIP or offer any
gateway to SIP at the moment.

The recently announced Project Gizmo will soon have a Linux client and seems
to support all I need. The only downside is the very limited number of cities
in which you can get a "virtual phone number".

So, in addition to working well in Linux, I'd like a service which has a
decent range of available phone numbers. Skype seems to offer numbers in
nearly every area code, but again I'd like to avoid Skype if possible.

I've done a bunch of Googling, but it's hard to know if a service is good or
not.

Thanks again!
