[Tfug] Debian Sarge Question

Chris is right. This can happen if lilo is not run after a kernel
upgrade. It can also happen if an intitrd image is not rebuilt after a
kernel upgrade.
So to fix:
1. Use a linux rescue cd to boot your system. I believe you can use the
deb installer disk for this (one of the debsters on the list can chime
in with more detail here if needed). IIRC the deb installer has a
rescue mode that will find and mount your current installation for you.
If not, you will have to do this yourself. Follow up post if you don't
know how.
2. Make sure that lilo.conf is correct and any initrd images in /boot
are made from the kernel you are trying to use. I believe debian
includes initrd-tools for this purpose.
3. Rerun lilo. Do it twice for luck.
