Yan,

Under Debian I found I have to use the idepci install.  I down loaded
the floppies and did the install.  I missed the step for PCMCIA
configuration so I guess I'll have to do the install again.  If I can
get the NIC and Video configured properly I will feel successful for
now.

What I read said that laptops have sudo hardware (for lack of a better
word)  and when the installation stops on line "md driver 0.36.6
MAX_MD_DEV=4, MAX_REAL=8" this indicates a hardware configuration
issue and the solution is installing the idepci version.

Now on to another install of Woody from disk.  - I may wait till
tomorrow
night.
